Annie Tate Ward

    BURLINGTON — Annie Tate Ward, 85, of 3124 Burch Bridge Road, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

She was the wife of the late Wilbert W. Ward and the daughter of the late Jacob and Mattie Walker Tate. Mrs. Ward was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church and was retired from Huey’s Bar-B-Q where she worked for 25 years.

    She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca H. White of Burlington, Jean Smith and her husband, Wayne, of Haw River, Nancy Penland and her husband, Duain, of Burlington and Joyce Moore and her husband, Tom, of Burlington; grandchildren, Angela King and her husband, Tony, Teresa Wyrick and her husband, Blaine, Hope Penland, Holly Penland, Kelly Wilson and her husband, Clint, Matthew Smith and Nicholas Smith; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Wilson; and a brother, Paul Tate of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Mary Carter and Lillie Cook and brothers, John Tate, Jacob Tate, Henry Tate and Javey Tate.

    The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Walter Jones.

Burial will follow in Stony Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
