Millard  W. Tate 

    BURLINGTON — Mr. Millard  W. Tate , 86, 2210 Wilkins Street, Burlington, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at his residence.

    A native of Burlington, he was the husband of the late Maureen Oakley Tate , and the son of Alex D. Tate  and Dora Gwyn Tate , both deceased.

He was a veteran of the 328th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army serving during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge as a part of the Third Army and saw action in Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. He retired from Western Electric Company. He was a member of the Reformed faith and attended Beacon Baptist Church.

    Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Carole Tate  of Fountain Inn, S.C.; a grandson, Richard A. Tate  II and wife, Sylvia, of Simpsonville, S.C.; two great-granddaughters, Tabitha and Jennifer Tate ; and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Hunter and Miss Irene Tate , both of Burlington.

    He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Tate ; four sisters; and six brothers.

    The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Greg Barkman.

Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

    The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington, and at other times they will be at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
