Woodrow Cox

Woodrow Wilson Cox, 64, of 1509 W. Davis St. died unexpectedly Thursday at 8 a.m. in a Columbia, S. C., hospital. He had been in declining health for several years.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Rev. L. I. Cox and Mattie Craven Cox, and was the husband of Mrs. Vallie Griffith Cox, who survives. He was a member of the First Christian United Church of Christ and was a retired hosiery employe.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son. Major Hugh N. Cox, Sumter, S.C.; sisters, Mrs. Stella Huffines, Elon College, Mrs. Leon T. Ward, Greensboro; brothers, William O. Cox, Pineville, Walter E. Cox, Elon College, L. R. Cox, Griffin, Ga.; and one grandchild.

Final rites will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian United Church of Christ. The Rev. Winfred Bray, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Elon College.

The body will remain at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary until taken to the church for the service. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
