Evelyn Roach Slack, 78, a former resident of Moscow, Idaho, died July 4 at a care center in Kennewick, Wash.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1921, to Harry Roach and Nellie (Galloway) Roach in Bovill, Idaho. She attended schools in Bovill and Moscow until the family moved to Spokane.

She married Walter Slack on Sept. 7, 1945, in Spokane. They moved to the Tri-Cities area in Washington in 1969. She worked for Rogers of Walla Walla, Wash., and retired from the family business of Appliance Guardian Service.

She was an avid bingo player and baseball fan.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Terry Cupples, and Kim Nopens; one son, Brett Slack; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of Tri Cities; two brothers, Harry Roach of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Jim Roach of Spokane; three sisters, Ethel Vig of Kansas City, Mo., Edythe Shell of Brea, Calif., and Thelma Craig of Boise, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Roach.
