Patricia "Pat" Gerringer Lewis

July 12, 1940 ~ October 8, 2021 (age 81)

Patricia “Pat” Gerringer Benfield Lewis, 81, left this world to be with her Lord and loved ones on Friday, October 8, 2021. Pat was the wife of the late Paul Thomas Lewis. She was the daughter of the Annie Marie Sutton Gerringer and James Freeman Gerringer, both deceased.
Pat attended Appalachian State University.  She then went on to receive her certificate in Floral Design and Interior Decorating from Alamance Community College. She attended High Style Design in Anaheim, California and Nashville, Tennessee.
Pat owned and operated Pats Flowers and Gifts on Main Steet in Gibsonville for 47 years. She loved all her customers and missed them when she retired and sold the business. She was in the merchants Association of Gibsonville and held offices of Secretary and Treasurer. She was appointed the President of North Carolina Teleflora wire services. She served as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President of Teleflora wire services. Pat was voted into the Hall of Fame in Gibsonville in 2006 by the Gibsonville Merchants Association. She was a member of the Gibsonville Kiwanis Club serving as Secretary. She was in the Burlington Women’s Chamber of Commerce where she served as Vice President, and on the board for 5 years.  Pat was also a member of Women on Wall Street, Dominoes Club and The Southern Magnolias. She was also a Mary Kay consultant.
Pat was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church where she served on the altar Guild and was a member of Gibsonville Methodist Women. She was honored as Women of the year by the Methodist Women. She also loved Bethlehem Christian Church in Altamahaw, NC where she was raised as a child until 1978 when she married Paul and moved her membership to Gibsonville UMC.

Pat is survived by her loving son, Brad Eugene Benfield and wife, Tracy Shepherd Benfield; a precious granddaughter, London Marie Benfield; step son, Rev. Walter Eric “Ricky” Lewis and wife, Elizabeth Younger Lewis; two precious step granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Erica Ruth Lewis; her only brother, Jerry Dee Gerringer and wife, Zane Gibson Gerringer; nephew, Drew Freeman (Shea) Gerringer; grandnephews, Rhett Freeman Gerringer and Jace Gerringer; grandniece. Sierra Coll.
 The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2:00PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ricky Lewis with burial to follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Wednesday at the funeral home and other times the family will be at her son’s home.
