Pauline Sutton Gross


    ELON — Pauline Sutton Gross, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at her home. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 50 years to Byron Eugene Gross, who survives. Pauline lived in Springfield, Virginia for over 30 years with her husband where they raised their family.
    Pauline was employed with Glen Raven Mills in Altamahaw in her younger years in the payroll department and she later retired from Bank of America in Springfield, Virginia. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where she served as financial secretary for many years. She was the treasurer of the Methodist Women and involved with the Senior Advantage Walkers. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister.
    Survivors include her husband, Byron Eugene Gross, of the home; daughter, Stacey Gross Ragan and her husband Darrell, of Gibsonville; sisters, Gaynelle S. McCollum of Elon, Marjorie “Margie” S. Foster of San Antonio, Texas, Shelvia S. Russell of Graham and Polly S. Wilson of Elon; brother, John Daniel Sutton of Elon.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Sutton and Lena Myrtle Brown Sutton; brother, John Harold Sutton; and a sister, Billie Benolken.
    A service to celebrate her life will be conducted on Monday, June 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church by the Rev. Nathan Whitman and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
    The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of her sister.
