Henry Monroe Tickle 


    GIBSONVILLE — Henry Monroe Tickle , 95, of 1215 Frank Road, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

    He was born in Guilford County, son of the late Quint and Harriett Allen Tickle  and was married to the late Minnie Mozelle Summers Tickle .

    He was a lifelong farmer, a mail carrier and was the first maintenance man at Eastern Guilford High School. He had also served as a tax lister, was on the Gibsonville Planning Board, was the Head Judge and Registrar for Rock Creek Township and was a member of the Agricultural Stabilization Board for Guilford County. Mr. Tickle  served as deacon, elder, treasurer and Sunday school teacher at both Bethel Presbyterian Church, where he was a member and Springwood Presbyterian Church, where he was a former member.

    He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Eva Mozelle and Sonny Allen of Gibsonville, Harriett Regina and Harden Phipps of Julian; sons and daughters-in-law, Lacy Quint "L.Q." and Carolyn Tickle , William Henry  and Shirley Tickle , all of Gibsonville and Daniel Monroe Tickle  and fiancée, Susie Horne, of Sunset Beach; 11 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; brother, Woodrow Tickle  of Gibsonville; half brothers, J. Q. Tickle  of Gibsonville and Robert Tickle  of Whitsett; half sisters, Willie Morgan and Lucille Calligan, both of Gibsonville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Summers of Greensboro; and brother-in-law, Bud Martin of Concord.

    He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; stepmother, Lydia Lowe Tickle ; brother, Earl Tickle ; sisters, Ruth Martin and Grace Crenshaw; and a half brother, Burley Tickle .

    The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Bethel Presbyterian Church by Dr. Benjamin Williams, Dr. Rollins Steele and the Rev. Bruce Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday evening, and other times at the home of his son, William Tickle , 1206 Frank Road, Gibsonville.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the charity of the donor’s choice.
