Ernest Thomas Reaves


    BURLINGTON — Ernest Thomas Reaves, 90, of 1648 White Kennel Road, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home.
    Born in Person County, Mr. Reaves was the son of the late John and Lillian Holt Reaves and husband of the late Ruth Connor Reaves and father of the late Marie Reaves. Mr. Reaves was a retired farmer and a member of Theresa Baptist Church.
    Mr. Reaves is survived by his children, Stoney Reaves of Snow Camp, Ann Moore of Roxboro, Randolph Reaves and Stella Strouth, both of Burlington and Steve Reaves of Roxboro; three sisters, Elizabeth Bowes and Pearl Riley, both of Roxboro and Lottie Robinson of Mebane; 21 grandchildren; 34 greatgrandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
    Mr. Reaves was also preceded in death by his eight brothers, Acey Reaves, Elvin Reaves, Sterling Reaves, Johnny Reaves, George Reaves, Willie Reaves, Nelson Reaves and Claymont Reaves; and two sisters, Ophelia Reaves and Lila Harris.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Theresa Baptist Church by the Rev. Herbert Brown, Pastor Frankie Reaves and Pastor Bruce Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Theresa Baptist Church, and at other times at the home of his granddaughter, Angela Smith, 546 Leasburg Road, Roxboro.
    Pallbearers will be Randy Reaves, Stevie Reaves, Toney Strouth, Scott Strouth, Tommy George, Troy Reaves and Rodney Reaves.
