BURLINGTON — Thomas Richard (Tommy) Garrison, 62, of Stoney Creek Church Road went home to be with Jesus Saturday, December 25, 2010 after several months of failing health.
He was the husband of the late Sarah Truitt Garrison who passed away in 2008. A native of Alamance County he was the son of the late William Murray Garrison and Alene Thomas Garrison who survives.
He was a member of the Stony Creek Presbyterian Church and was aretired salesman with Woodworkers Supply having worked there for 5 years. He was formerly employed by Mebane Lumber Company for 27 years and M C R Alphabet for 5 years.
Surviving is his mother of Burlington, NC, Daughter, Christina (Brad) Elliott of Elon, NC, Grandson, Paw Paw’s Buddy and His Pride and Joy — Tyler Paschal of Gibsonville, NC, Brother, Ronnie (Susan) Garrison of Burlington, extended family; Virginia Satterfield of Elon, Sue (Wayne) Ragan of Elon, Bobby Truitt of Reidsville, Curtis Truitt of Burlington, Clyde Truitt of Burlington, Howard (Judy) Truitt of Burlington, Doug (Wanda) Truitt of Burlington, Tommy (Gloria) Truitt of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, father, and extended family members Betty and Curtis Cox.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Olin Tatum. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at other times at the residence of the daughter, 1241 NC 87 North, Elon, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. The family would like to thank Dr. Pandit and the staff of Alamance Cancer Center, Tina and Ms. Mary of Hospice for their care of Tommy.
