Mr. Lynn Hoffman Small

BURLINGTON — Mr. Lynn Hoffman Small, 62, of 7467 Danford Road, died at 12:42 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at his home after 10 years of failing health.

A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Betty Andrews Small, who survives, and the son of Mr. Walter T. “Bud” Small, who survives, and the late Mrs. Margaret Boone Small.

He was former president of Lemco Mills, and was retired as owner and president of Bennett Corp.

He was a member of Springwood Presbyterian Church, an elder, Sunday school teacher and former Sunday school superintendent. He was a graduate of Gibsonville High School, attended Elon College and was a graduate of the Executive Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was chairman of the board of the National Association of Hosiery Manufacturers from 1986-87, and was past president of the PTA at Gibsonville Elementary and Eastern Guilford High schools. He was honored with a lifetime N.C. PTA membership status.

Survivors other than his wife of the home and his father of Burlington include three sons, Mr. Jerry L. Small and Mr. Thomas R. Small, both of Burlington, and Mr. Ed Small of Elon College; two sisters, Miss Sandra K. Small of Burlington and Mrs. Peggy Small Wright of Lincolnton; three brothers, Mr. Howard Odell “Pud” Small, Mr. John A. Small and Mr. Terry L. Small, all of Burlington; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Cynthia Sue Small. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Springwood Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jonathon Freeman, former pastor, and the Rev. Libby Inman, interim pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Springwood Presbyterian Church, P.O.
