OBITUARIES Asa Danieley
BURLINGTON — Grant Asa Danieley , 88, of 1925 Robin Hood Drive, died at 6:26 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late George Albert and Maggie Gerringer Danieley , and husband of the late Cora Madren Danieley and Thelma Dimont Madren Danieley , who survives.
Mr. Danieley retired from the Burlington Post Office after 42 years of service and was a farmer. He was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and was honored with the title Lifetime Deacon. He was Chaplain and Past President of the Rural Letter Carriers Association, a former Board of Director of the A.O. Volunteer Fire Department and was honored as hospital service volunteer with over 500 hours of service. He was an Honorary Member of the Burlington Lions Club, where he was awarded Lion of the Year and was the top broom salesman for the last five years. In March 2004, Sheriff Terry Johnson presented Mr. Danieley with his own Honorary Sheriff ’s badge and plaque.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Dimont Madren Danieley of the home; daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Stowe and husband, Lehi, and Mrs. Nancy Leonard and husband, Harrell, both of Burlington; son, Donnie H. Danieley and wife, Sherrion, of Burlington; sisters, Mrs. Margaret Beckom and Mrs. Ava Ferguson, both of Burlington, stepsons, Boyd Madren and wife, Becky, of Burlington and Fred Madren and wife, Judy, of Elon; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 10 greatstepgrandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Danieley was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Madren Danieley ; parents; son, Fred Danieley ; brothers, June Danieley , Buck Danieley , Henry Danieley and Jesse Danieley ; sister, Mrs. Mary Saunders; and a grandson, Charles Richard "Dickie" Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2004, at Peoples Memorial Christian Church by the Rev. John Shields, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, and Dr. J. Earl Danieley . Entombment will follow in the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Danieley will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
All retired rural letter carriers are asked to sit as Honorary Pallbearers. An Honor Guard will be provided by the Alamance County Sheriff ’s Department.
