Mrs. Rachel Marie Skenes Cameron
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Rachel Marie Skenes Cameron, 79, of 2123 Melrose St., died at 7:20 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Hospice Home after two months of failing health and one month of critical illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of John Fisher Skenes and Mildren Skenes Humphreys, both deceased, and the wife of the late James Floyd Cameron.
Survivors include six daughters: Mrs. Linda (William) Tickle of Snow Camp; Mrs. Carolyn (Randy) Moore of Mebane; Mrs. Doris (Keith) Clark of Graham, Mrs. Kaye (Ken) Tatko of Graham, Mrs. Yvonne (Tommy) Parrish of Lexington and Mrs. Becky Ivey of Burlington; three sons: Mr. Bobby Cameron of Forest City; Mr. Jim (Carol) Cameron of Burlington and Mr. Mortie (Carol) Cameron of St. Charles, Mo.; three sisters: Mrs. Virginia Hunneycutt of McClainsville; Mrs. Jeanette Roton of Burlington and Mrs. Shelby Hill of Burlington; three brothers: the Rev. John Skenes of Burlington; the Rev. Bill Skenes of Burlington and Mr. George Skenes of Burlington; 29 grandchildren and 30
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Simpson and Kathleen Perry, one brother, Richard Skenes and one grandson, William H. Tickle, III.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Burial will be at Vickers Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Skenes of Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Rev. John Skenes of Vickers Memorial Baptist Church will officiate.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. At other times they will be at the home of Jim Cameron, 2249 Wilkins St., Burlington.
