Mrs. Bertha H. Atkins, of 2603 NE 47th Terrace, died Monday at a nursing home at 2900 Kendallwood Parkway.
She was born in Prathersville in Clay County and had lived in this area most of her life.
Mrs. Atkins was a member of the North Kansas City First Christian Church.
She leaves a son, Roy. H. Atkins of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Elise A. Ramey, Kansas City; a brother, Lawrence Hart, Liberty; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Rowland, Orrick, Mo., and Mrs. Frances Ilgengritz, Ottumwa, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church; burial in Newcomer White Chapel Cemetery.
Bertha Atkins kept the books of her husband's plumbing company most of her married life. After his death in 1961, she maintained the business for about two years, then left it to her son, and retired. She died from colon cancer.
She married Roy Gaussoin Atkins on 6 Dec 1917 in Liberty, Clay County, Missouri.
Bertha Hart Atkins is the maternal grandmother of Rick Ramey.
