Mr. Johnny Leroy Odell
BURLINGTON — Mr. Johnny Leroy Odell, 83, of 871 Deep Creek Church Road, died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Virginia, he was the husband of Mrs. Edna Elizabeth Thomas Odell, who survives, and the son of the late Allen Blain Odell and Lillie Straton Odell. He was a retired heating and air sheet metal mechanic and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of City Lake Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include a sister, Mrs. Zora Deese of Calhoun, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Kristi Lynn Smith Brown of Kernersville and Stephanie Blair Petty of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gay Odell Petty; a brother, Felix Odell; and three sisters, Clara McCann, Mollie Eubanks, and Elois.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at City Lake Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Service in Graham from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to City Lake Baptist Church, 1849 Carolina Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.
