Mrs. Frances Boswell Gilliam


    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Frances Boswell Gilliam, 90, of 5331 Mt. Vernon Church Road, Burlington, passed at her home on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 3:15 p.m.
    She was born in Caswell County but lived all her adult life in Alamance County. She was a member of Union Ridge Church, Hustlers Class, Golden Age Fellowship and Ella Fleming Sunday School Class, and worked at Scott’s Clinic for most of her adult life as a nurse.
    Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Jones and husband, Blake, of Elon, and Sarah Faucette and husband, Fred, of Burlington; sons, Bobby Gilliam and wife, Velma, of Cascade, Va., and Fred Gilliam and wife, Peggy, of Burlington; brother, Elbridge Boswell, of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Worth Gilliam; parents, William Layfayette "Fayte" Boswell and Rosa Rudd Boswell; sisters, Florence Matkins, Nanny Boswell and Myrtle Madren; and brothers Aubrey Boswell, Alton Boswell, John Boswell and James Boswell.
    Funeral service will be held Monday at Union Ridge Church at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    Visitation will be at the church fellowship hall on Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. and other times at the home.
    Memorials may be made to the Activity Center of Union Ridge Church or the Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell.
