Daniel William "Bill" Conklin
BURLINGTON — Daniel William "Bill" Conklin, 81, of 4408 Burch Bridge Road, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Conklin was born December 25, 1926, in Gibsonville, to the late Andrew and Lillian Tickle Conklin. Bill formerly attended Bethel United Methodist Church, where he was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. He was the former owner and operator of Conklin Grocery and he was a Senior Air Policeman for the U S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Hall Conklin of the home; a son, Dale Conklin and his wife, Mona, of Burlington; two grandchildren, Lisa Conklin and Danny Conklin; four stepchildren, Pat Walker and her husband, Phillip, of Elon, Barbara Overby and her husband, Donald, of Burlington, Glenn Hall and his wife, Debbie, of Burlington, and Don Hall and his wife, Sandy, of Graham; 10 stepgrandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Doris Ammons of Gibsonville; and two brothers, Bobby Conklin of Gibsonville, and John Conklin of Leesburg, Fla.
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Conklin; two brothers, Holt Conklin and Hubert Conklin; and a sister, Estelle Huffines.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dave Gilbert and the Rev. David Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the home.
