James Hassell Carroll
    BURLINGTON — James Hassell Carroll, 80, of 6569-A Union Ridge Road, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after five years of failing health.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Bernice Hall Carroll, who survives, and the son of the late James and Martha Hensley Carroll. He was retired from Culp Finishing and was a member of Florence Memorial Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include three grandchildren, Blane Carroll of High Point, and Chris Carroll and Mike Carroll, both of Burlington; and a sister, Viola Madren of Burlington.
    He was preceded in death by four sons, Kip H. Carroll, Dwight D. Carroll, Ricky T. Carroll, and J. Blake Carroll; four brothers; and two sisters.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. James L. Florence. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Christian Church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.3
