William“Holt” Boone

BURLINGTON - William“ Holt” Boone, 89, of Burlington passed away at White Oak Manor on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 after several months of declining health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the loving husband of the late Wilma Byrd Boone and the son of Joel Ralph Boone, Sr. and BerthaHuffines Boone, both deceased.

He was a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the 82ndAirborne Division. Holt retired from Bell South after 37 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Bula Masonic Lodge 409 AF & AM, member of the Board of Directors of the Faucette Fire Department for 32 years, and chartermember of the Lakeview Civitan Club for 28 years. Holt was a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Allen Ralph Boone and wife Ann of Burlington; two grandchildren, Brandy Whitaker and husband Billy and Bryan Boone and wife Trisha; two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Fred Holt Boone; brother, Joel Ralph Boone, Jr.; and three sisters, Lillian Boone Craven, Agnes Boone Blanchard, and Ozelle Boone Broyles.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. A cryptside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at theMausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the AlzheimersAssociation, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
