FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. — Retired Chief Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force C. Wayne Cable , Jr., 62, died Saturday, February 25, 2006 in Fairview Heights, IL following ten months of a brave and optimistic battle with cancer.
Surviving family includes his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Joanne Cable of the home; one son, Matthew Cable , U.S. Navy and wife, Charlene of Norfolk, Va.; three daughters, Beverly Vollinger, Marie Penk and husband, Dan, and Jackie Cable , all of Fairview Heights, IL; his parents, Clyde W. Cable Sr. and Lillian S. Cable of Burlington; one brother, Michael Cable and wife, Susan of Farmville, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Alex and Collin Cable , Tamara and Josh Vollinger, and Chelsea and Robbie Penk.
A memorial service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church, 1630 Westview Avenue, Elon on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Terry Huffines. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund or the Boy Scout Troop of the First United Methodist Church of Elon, P.O. Box 923, Elon, N.C. 27244.
