Garland Thomas Loy
BURLINGTON — Garland Thomas Loy , age 90, of 116 Markham St., passed away Tuesday September 27, 2005, at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was husband of Alice Burton Shelton Loy , who survives, and son of the late Joseph Lester and Kinnie Horner Loy . Mr. Loy was a retired foreman at Hole-in-None Hosiery. He was a charter member of Faith Bible Chapel, a member of the Young at Heart Club, Alamance County Antique Car Club and the YMCA. He was also the official photographer for the car club and his church
Survivors include his wife, Alice Burton Shelton Loy of the home; daughters, Kay Westmoreland and husband, Wes, of Greensboro and Beverly Riley and husband, Jim, of Burlington; four grandchildren, Ashley Parrish, Meredith Mann, Kathryn Blank and Stephanie Neighbour; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph "Joe" L. Loy Jr. and wife, Sylvia, of Burlington; sisters, Frances Wright of Baltimore, Md. and Ora Mae Lowe of Burlington; brother-in-law, Millard Crouse. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Loy ; sisters, Virgie Wilson and Margaret Crouse.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Faith Bible Chapel by the Rev. Mark Robertson. Entombment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. Loy will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 this evening.
