Kay Westmoreland, born on September 25, 1945, in Burlington, NC, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024, in Greensboro, NC. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend, and faithful servant of God.
Throughout her professional career, she worked in various administrative capacities and as a Realtor. Perhaps her favorite highlight was when she was a medical secretary, because this is when she met her future husband and love of her life- Wes Westmoreland. Kay found joy in spending quality time with her family and friends and had many interests including gardening, cooking, and reading. Her love for Jesus shone brightly through her active participation in her church community at Lawndale Baptist Church and Kings Cross Church. Kay was known for her compassionate spirit, always volunteering to help those in need, whether it was serving in the nursery and Vacation Bible School or helping local homeless shelters and food ministries.
Kay is preceded in death by her Husband Vernon "Wes" Franklin Westmoreland, Sr.; her parents Garland and Alice Loy; a stepson Frank Westmoreland; and her stepson-in-law Dennis Setterfield.
Kay's family and friends will remember her fondly for her unwavering love and support. She is survived by her daughters Kathryn Blank (Bill) and Stephanie Neighbour (Glenn); stepdaughter Sherron Setterfield, stepdaughter-in-law Cindy Westmoreland; and sister Beverly Riley (Jim). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Maggie French (Hansen), Ben Blank, Will Blank, Sam Blank, Alex Neighbour (Gunner Philipp), Kaitlin Neighbour; great-granddaughter, Katie French; nieces, Ashley Parrish (Bryan) and Meredith Mann and grandnephew Owen Parrish; step-grandchildren, Wes Westmoreland, III (Logan) and Andrew Westmoreland (Amy) and step-great-grandson, Coen Westmoreland.
In addition to her family, Kay touched the lives of many through her kindness and generosity and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, She never knew a stranger, greeting everyone with a bright smile and a wink.
A celebration of Kay's life will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Lawndale Baptist Church at 3505 Lawndale Dr. in Greensboro.
May Kay Westmoreland's memory continue to inspire others to live with faith, love, and compassion.
