GIBSONVILLE — Mr. Ray L. Willett, 63, died at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at 9:40 a.m.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Diane M. Willett, who survives, and the son of Henry Willett and Margaret Ingold Willett, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired deputy sheriff for Guilford County. He formerly served with the North Carolina Militia. Ray was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a stepdaughter, Tracy Matthews, of Mount Airy; sister, Judith Clapp and the late F.A. Clapp, of Whitsett; two brothers, Riley D. Willett Sr., of McLeansville, and Vance Willett and wife Susie, of Whitsett; mother-in-law, Betty Shell, of Welcome; granddaughter, Ashtin Johnson, of Mount Airy; great-grandsons, Dalyion, Brandon and Carter; and several nieces and nephews .
A graveside service will be conducted at Gibsonville City Cemetery on Thursday,
Sept. 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Larry Andrews. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence of Vance and Susie Willett, 1418 N.C. 61 South, Whitsett.
