James “Darrell” Woody

BURLINGTON – James Darrell Woody, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 suddenly at his home.
He was born on February 12, 1941 in Alamance County to the late James Henry Woody and Dorothy “Dot” King Woody and was the husband to Audrey Page Woody of 57 years who survives.

Darrell was the owner and operator of Woody’s Exxon. Everyone in the Lakeview Community considered this the “Hangout”. He formerly worked at Western Electric for 10 years, A&P Grocery and Pages Grocery. He was a member of Lakeview Community Church and attended St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than his wife, Audrey Woody include a son, Todd Woody and wife, Tammy; his daughter, Suzanne Miles and husband, David; grandchildren, Christopher Woody, Chelsea Emery and husband, Brandon, Jacob Miles and fiancé, Hannah Day, Joshua Miles and friend, Cheyenne Haizlip; a brother, Dean Woody and wife, Connie; a sister, Janice Woody and her friend, Tom Wyrick; sister-in-law, Lois Stubblefield and husband, Frank; brother-in-law, Benny Page and wife, Jayne; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, René Lynn Woody; his parents and brothers-in-law, Donnie Page and Jerry Page.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Privette and Rev. Gerald Sanders with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Burlington Animal Shelter, 215 Stone Quarry Road, Haw River, NC 27258 or to the charity of your choice.
