Mr. James Henry Woody
    BURLINGTON — Mr. James Henry Woody, 86, of 264 Boone Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at his home from a sudden illness. He was born in Caswell County to the late John Edwin Woody and the late Cornelia Mae Fuqua Woody and was the husband to Dorothy "Dot" King Woody for 63 years.
    Mr. Woody was the owner and operator of Woody’s Exxon in the Lakeview Community for the majority of his life. He was one of the founders and charter members of Lakeview Community Church, member of the Lakeview Civitan Club, member of the Alamance Beagle Club, was a avid hunter and fisherman and a World War II veteran of the 82 nd Airborne.
    Survivors other than his wife of the home include, daughter, Janice Woody of Burlington and her friend Tom Wyrick; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Audrey Woody of Burlington, Dean and Connie Woody of Gibsonville; four grandchildren and seven-great grandchildren; sisters and brotherin-law, Doris Woody of Burlington, Alma and Carl DeBruler of Burlington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Beulah Woody of Winter Park, Fla., Carl and Annie C. Woody of Burlington and Betty Jean Woody of Elon. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Rene Lynn Woody and brother, R.F. Woody.
    The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Community Church by the Rev. Reid Dickens. Entombment will follow in the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Lakeview Community Church, and at other times at the home.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeview Community Church, 101 Boone Road, Burlington, N.C. 27217.
