BURLINGTON – Clyde Thomas Moody, 83, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 6, 2018 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Chatham County on June 8, 1934 to the late Willis and Marie Elkins Moody and was the husband of 17 years to Betty Allred Moody of the home.
He was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as Deacon, Board of Trustees, Sunday School Secretary and the Building and Grounds Committee. Clyde made his career in textiles with Burlington Industries, working at the Mayfair Plant and West-Point Pepperell and JP Stevens. He enjoyed spending time gardening, fishing, feeding catfish at his ponds, boating and watching wrestling.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughter, June Moody Long (Larry); sons, Ricky Moody (Jodi) and Ronnie Moody (Pam); grandchildren, Matthew Long (Leslie), Megan Long Patton (Vance), Chris Moody (Nellary), Dustin Moody and Addie Moody; great grandchildren, Grayson, Porter and Blake Long, Branch, Norris and Banks Moody and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Grace Brewer Moody who died in 1998; one week old twin brother, Coy Moody; brothers, Willis Moody, Edison Moody, Marley Moody, Charlie Moody and Reid Moody; sisters, Irene Murphy and Athelene Perry.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Glencoe Baptist Church by Pastor Darrell Massey with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glencoe Baptist Church, 2556 Glencoe Street, Burlington, NC 27217.

GRACE BREWER MOODY BURLINGTON - Mrs. Grace Brewer Moody, 62, of 5513 Pagetown Rd., died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center, after a brief illness.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Glencoe Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Massey, Pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Felton Massey. Burial will be held in Alamance Memorial Park.She was born in Chatham County, to the late Wrenn Brewer and Esta Stout Brewer, who survives. She was retired from Lucent Technologies, a member of Glencoe Baptist Church, for 42 years, where she served as WMU Director, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, Bicentenial Committee, Hospitality Committee and organizer of the History Rood of the church. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Thomas Moody of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (June) Long of Burlington; two sons, Ricky Moody and Ronnie Moody both of Burlington; mother, Mrs. Esta Stout Brewer of Siler City; three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Nunn of Snow Camp, Mrs. Faye Brooks of Siler City and Mrs. Sylvia Moore of Bear Creek; one brother, Claude Brewer of Allen, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Moody will remain in Lowe Funeral Home until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at the funeral home and at other times, at the residence.

Betty Jean Allred Moody, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Caswell County she was the daughter of the late Joseph Tennon Allred and Edna Miles Allred and was married for over 17 years to Clyde Thomas Moody who passed in 2018.
Betty was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully for many years. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach with her sisters and any family gatherings.
Betty is survived by her sisters; Doris Hyler, Peggy Faucette and husband, Phil and Frankie Sartin and husband, Earl, grandchildren; James Wrenn and Jamie Faucette, step-daughter; Kim Hodge and husband, Johnny, step- granddaughters; Amanda Hodge and Julie Hodge and sisters-in-law; Helen Smith and Lynda Allred.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Clyde Moody, son; James “Jay” Wrenn, parents; Joseph and Edna Allred, brothers; Jim Allred, Bobby Allred, Pete Allred and Billy Allred as well as a sister; Ruby Hall.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Baynes Baptist church by Pastor Darrell Massey with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:45 prior to the service at the church.
