Mr. Joe Samuel Terrell


    MEBANE — Mr. Joe Samuel Terrell, 84, of Mebane died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 at 5 p.m. at Duke Medical Center after suffering from Parkinson’s disease for more than eight years.
    He was retired with 25 years of service from Tower Mills as a fixer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mebane and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellen Allred Terrell of the home; daughters, Cindy Stephens and husband Alan of Haw River and Myra Binkley and husband Phil of Graham; sons, Morris Terrell and wife Becky of Graham and Mitchell Terrell and wife Severina of Sumter, S.C.; a brother, Herbert Terrell of Charlotte; seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, John Oscar Terrell and Ester Jackson Terrell; brothers, Ervin, Devoy, Earl, Ernest, Thomas, and Henry Terrell.
    The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by Dr. Terry Farmer and Dr. Charlie Fleishman. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 13, 2009 at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, and at other times at the residence.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the eighth floor staff at Duke Medical Center for their care and compassion during this time and making sure he was in no pain.
