YANCEYVILLE — Nellie Smith Rudd, 92, formerly of 644 W. Main St., went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2012, at Alamance-Caswell Hospice Home in Burlington following a period of declining health.
She was born in Caswell County on Oct. 1, 1919, to Lester Hassell and Mattie Bell McKinney Smith. She was educated in the Caswell County Schools, was a homemaker and attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Harrelson Funeral Service Chapel, conducted by Elder David Underwood. Interment will be in Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors are daughter, Vickey Rudd Oakley and husband, Marion Oakley Sr. of Prospect Hill; sons, Kenneth Rudd and wife, Patricia, Danny Rudd and wife, Terry, and Levi Rudd, all of Burlington; sisters, Elva S. Apple, Inez Smith, Erma S. Matherly and husband, Leonard, all of Burlington, Fred Smith and wife, Judy, of Elon; brother, Johnny Smith and wife, Mildred, of King; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, C.C. Rudd; a son, James S. Rudd; sister, Brona S. Herndon; and brothers, Earl Smith, Eugene Smith and Roy Smith.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alamance-Caswell Hospice Home, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
