March 26, 1934 ~ July 30, 2024 (age 90)
Betty Jean Grigg Clapp, 90, of Elon, NC passed away at Liberty Commons on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Larry Neal Clapp, who survives and the daughter of Burie Hillard Grigg and Oeland Marie Peeler Grigg, both deceased.
She retired from P. Lorillard Company and was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved to sew and cook. She always wanted the entire family over for Christmas.
In addition to her husband of their home, survivors include a daughter, Sherry Owen and husband Alvin of Gibsonville; son, Greg Clapp and wife Maria of Liberty; four grandchildren, Jason Owen, Gary Owen, Lacy Clapp, and Benjamin Clapp; and six great grandchildren, Charlotte Grace Clapp, Hanna Thompson, Jordan Thompson, Caleb Owen, Jessalynn Owen, and Avery Owen.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Grigg and Jim Grigg and two sisters, Evelyn Harrison and Mary Lou Hudgins.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of a grandson, Gary Owen, 113 Apple Street, Gibsonville, NC.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Cherry Grove Fire Department and the Gibsonville Fire Department.
