Mrs. Alvana Elizabeth Madren Tate
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Alvana Elizabeth Madren Tate , 94 formerly of E. B. Tate Road died Friday, August 13, 2004 at White Oak Manor. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Emmitt Boyd Tate .
Alvana was a homemaker and a member of Concord Christian Church where she sang in the church choir for many years. She was known for her homemade pecan pies enjoyed by both her family and neighbors. Alvana loved gardening growing a variety of vegetables and flowers. Her beautiful flowers were admired by the entire community.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pauline "Polly" and Ervin Stanfield of Burlington; son and daughter-in-law, Harvey L. and Iris. S. Tate also of Burlington; grandchildren, H. Lee Tate , Jr., Karen L. Tate and Kelly Dawn Stanfield; and a great grandchild, Jerri C. Tate .
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; Fletcher and Molly McKinney Madren; sisters, Jenny Paschal and Cora Danieley; brothers, Almond Madren, Raleigh Madren and George Madren.
The funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Concord Christian Church by Pastor. Keith Murray and assisted by Elder Wallis Smith. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
The family of Alvana Tate would like to thank the entire staff of White Oak Manor for their love and care over the past several years for their mother and grandmother.
