Mr. Carl F. "June" Shaw Jr.


    BURLINGTON — Mr. Carl F. "June" Shaw Jr., 83, of 3946 Pond Road, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two weeks of failing health.
    A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Joyce Hughes Shaw and the son of the late Carl F. Shaw and the late Flossie Kime Shaw.
    Mr. Shaw retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company. He turned his hobby of repairing tractors into a small part-time business.
    He was a member of Brick Reformed United Church of Christ and a member of the Senior Men’s Sunday school class.
    Mr. Shaw is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Shaw, of Burlington; his stepchildren, Angela Jean McCauley and Michael McCauley, both of Burlington; his three stepgrandchildren; his sisters, Donna Frye, of Alamance, Sara Young, of Burlington, Sandra Dodson, of Graham, and Ann Grigsby, of Burlington; and his brothers, J.W. Shaw, of Liberty, and Tommy Shaw, of Georgia.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Harry Clifford Shaw; sisters, Marilee Moore and Lucy Whitesell; and his brother, Louis Shaw.
    A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Brick Reformed United Church of Christ Church Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Kristin Vaughn and the Rev. Dr. Emmett O. Floyd.
    The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 6 until 8 at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington. Other times they will be at the residence.
