BURLINGTON — Mrs. Betty Madren Simpson, 70, died at her home in Pleasant Grove, N.C. on Sunday, February 15, 2009 following six years declining health.
She was the wife of John Gary Simpson, who survives, and the daughter of Ralph Madren and Esther Rosson Madren, both deceased. Betty attended Gibsonville High School and Lees-McCrae College. In earlier years, she worked for the Republican Party in Washington, D.C. and Phoenix. Ariz. She was a member of Union Ridge Church and served as the secretary for approximately 10 years. She was a devoted and loving mother and homemaker.
In addition to her husband, of the home, survivors include a son, James Michael Simpson and wife Megan Gurgon Simpson, of Greensboro; a grandson, Benjamin Braxton Simpson; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dan Ficklin. Burial will follow at Union Ridge Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m.
