BURLINGTON — Mr. John Gary Simpson, age 75, died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 4:37 p.m.
John was a 1954 graduate of Walter Williams High School and later Elon University. He had a 40-year career with the SocialSecurityAdministration and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a long time member of Union Ridge Church.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Betty Madren Simpson; his parents, Paul “Hardrock” Simpson and Ruby Braxton Simpson; and two brothers, Glenn and Paul Junior.
John is survived by two sisters, Joanne Barnwell and Nellie Goins, both of Burlington; a son, James Michael Simpson (Megan); two grandchildren, Benjamin Braxton Simpson and Erik Claude Simpson, all of Greensboro; and a special niece, Kathryn Watterson of High Point.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Rich & Thompson
Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Dan Ficklin. Burial will follow at Union Ridge Church Cemetery.
Visitation
will be at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
