Dianne Wrenn Watson East

YANCEYVILLE, NC - Mrs. Dianne Wrenn Watson East, age 66, of Yanceyville, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 surrounded by her family at her residence after several months of failing health.

Born in Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late James Vance Wrenn, Sr. and Mrs. Inez Saunders Wrenn, who survives, and was married to Michael Wayne East, who survives.

She retired from Dillard Middle School after 23 years of service and was involved in many school related activities including being a former Bartlett Yancey Marching Band Booster President, coaching many sport teams, including softball, basketball and tennis and was awarded teacher assistant of the year various times during her career. She was part owner of Watson Lawn Care for over 20 years and ran her own community beauty shop and daycare. She was a very active member of Lea Bethel Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mrs. East is survived by her husband of the home; her mother of Reidsville; two sons, Dwight Watson, Jr. and his wife, Rev. Patricia, of Maryland and Derek Watson and his wife, Carla, of Cherry Grove; five grandchildren, Amirabelle (Jake) Watson-Krei, Ivy, Eva, Madelyn and Savannah Watson; a great grandchild, Cohen Watson-Krei and another on the way; a brother, J.V. (Pamela) Wrenn; a niece, Amanda Rule, a nephew, Mickey Wrenn; two step sons, Brian (Shannon) East and Darren (Samantha) East; five step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Dwight Watson, Sr.; her father; and a nephew, Buddy Hamlett.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Lea Bethel Baptist Church by Pastor Calvin Sacra. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 Saturday afternoon at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her mother, Inez Wrenn, 8173 Cherry Grove Rd., Reidsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lea Bethel Baptist Church, 1820 Ridgeville Rd., Prospect Hill, NC 27314 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
