Michael Darryl Clapp, “Mike”
May 10, 1961 ~ August 12, 2024 (age 63)
Michael Darryl Clapp, “Mike”, 63, of Burlington, NC, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 after battling significant health issues.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Deborah Snyder Clapp of Burlington, NC and his three sons Matthew, Benjamin (Christine), and Zachary. He is further survived by his mother, Betty C. Barham and his brother, Timothy (Nancy) Clapp, and stepsiblings, Kathy B. McConnell (Dan) and Billy Barham (Bonnie).
He is predeceased by his father Chalmer R. Clapp, and brothers Randy and Jeff Clapp. He was loved by many extended family members and friends.
A native of Alamance County, Mike graduated from Western Alamance High School in 1979. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as an Aviation Electronics Technician. During his deployment, he received a Letter of Commendation for his outstanding performance of duty in support of Commander Carrier Group FOUR. After his service, he followed his passion of furniture building and woodworking and started his own business. Mike’s desire for new challenges then led him to form M.D. Solutions, Inc. where he spent the last seven years traveling the country gaining expertise in rock drilling.
Mike loved fishing, puzzles, and anything that he could take apart and put back together. Mike always said, “if somebody could make it, he could fix it.” Most importantly, he loved his family and his dogs. He leaves behind two loyal dogs, Cocoa and Oreo, and three “grand-dogs”, Darla, Zuko, and Shelby.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at 11am prior to a 12pm funeral service at Hope Church, 1606 W Davis Street, Burlington on Friday, August 16, 2024. The committal service will then be held at Alamance Memorial Park immediately following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given in Mike’s honor to the ASPCA or Hope Church of Burlington.
