Paul Herman Huey
ELON — Mr. Paul Herman Huey, 76, of 1750 Powerline Road, passed away at 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at his residence after a four year battle with cancer.
A native of Greensboro, NC, he was the son of the late Charlie Chester Huey and Josie Loy Huey. He was a restaurant owner with businesses including MC & Friends, Huey’s Barbecue and Huey’s Catering. He was a graduate of Elon College, a member of the Alpha Pi Delta Fraternity, and a member of the Phoenix Club. He was an avid Elon sports fan who loved tailgating and fellowship with the teams and fans. He also loved to travel and collect antiques.
Surviving are son, Charlie Chester “Chet” Huey II and wife Morgan of Ashburn, VA; daughter, Martha Loy “Marlo” Huey and fiancé Michael Taylor of Atlanta, GA; and a special “almost son,” Demetrio Bahena of Elon, NC.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elna Doris Huey; and the mother of his children, Patti Key Huey.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday,
Oct. 26, 2015, at Union Ridge Church with the Rev. Dan Ficklin officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to a Scholarship Fund that will be set up in his honor at Elon University.
