GIBSONVILLE — Lucille “Coonie” Busick Zimmerman, 85, of 6400 Osceola-Ossipee Road, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, to unite with her heavenly Father face to face and to see her family once again.
Coonie was the daughter of the late Charlie V. and Ada Brown Busick and wife of Raymond Alton Zimmerman. She played the piano, sang with a trio and taught a Sunday School class well into her 70’s. During the late 1970’s, God called her to begin an Hispanic Ministry, from which has grown an Hispanic church in the Kernersville area. She retired as a medical receptionist with Drs. Lupton, Hall and Nolan in Greensboro.
She is survived by the love of her life, husband of 65 years Raymond A. Zimmerman; daughters, Cindy Z. Jones of Gibsonville and Camille Z. Thaxton and husband Kent of Burlington; grandchildren, Chris Jones, Matt Thaxton and wife Pam, Jennifer Whitehead and husband Robert and Cristin Hightower and husband Torrey; 10 greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Williard “Wick” Peeples of Browns Summit; sistersin-law, Frances Busick and Tempie Busick; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pat Smithey and husband Hubert and Gladys Outen and husband Jimmy; brothers, Verlin Busick and Harold Busick.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29. 2014, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Phil Spry. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Zimmerman will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday and at the home at other times.
