ELON — Billie Jean Blanchard Zimmerman, 82 of Elon passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Cumberland County and was the daughter of the late Herman and Willie Marie Sartin Blanchard. She was a former employee with Burlington Industries and she retired from the Alamance-Burlington School System. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, the church choir, the Ladies Circle and played the piano for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Zimmerman Miles and her husband James of Elon; son, Vernon Chris Zimmerman of Burlington and grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Miles and Melanie Dawn Zimmerman. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Ann Zimmerman and her parents.
The service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Kurt Ward and Hospice Chaplain M.J. Tucci. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to Alzheimer’s Association, 4615 Dundas Dr. Suite 103, Greensboro, NC 27407 3, Billie Jean Zimmerman
