BURLINGTON - Vernon Chris Zimmerman, 67, of Burlington passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on November 10, 2022.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Jack Vernon Zimmerman and Billie Jean Blanchard Zimmerman, both deceased.
He was a mechanic for 21 years at Stearns Ford. Vernon loved drag racing in his younger years, built race cars, and was a family member of the Z& M Racing Team. He loved to watch football and was an avid Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoyed watching Sunday football with his daughter. Vernon was a member of St. Mark’s Church for over 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always looked forward to Christmas.
Survivors include a daughter, Melanie “Dawn” Zimmerman of Burlington; sister, Donna Z. Miles and husband James; brother, James Alvin Miles; and a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ann Zimmerman.
The family will have a visitation at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. At other times the family will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the AlzheimersAssociation, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC28209 orAuthoraCareHospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
