Robert "Bob" Theron McAlister 


    BURLINGTON — Robert "Bob" Theron McAlister , age 92, died on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C. He was a native of Greenville, South Carolina and one of sixteen children. He was the son of the late Dr. McDuffie McAlister  and Lillie Ann Baker McAlister , and husband of the late Irene Tromble McAlister .
    Bob retired as a Master Sargent after 22 years in the US Army. During his tours of duty Bob served during WW II in both the Pacific and European Theatres and during the Korean War. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time and was known as a superb dancer.
    Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry L. McAlister  and his wife, Ruby of Elon, Robert McAlister , Jr. and his wife, Mary of Savannah, Georgia and Michael McAlister  of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Connie Trollinger, Jason and Jim McAlister ; great grandchildren, Eric Trollinger and Evan McAlister .
    A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Shallow Ford Christian Church by Rev. Matthew Smith. The 82nd Airborne Division will provide full military honors at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory prior to the service and other
