Virgil Willard Moyer

Virgil Willard Moyer, 87, of Eagle Rock, Mo., died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Carroll Regional Medical Center, Berryville.
He was born May 10, 1915, in Holcomb, Mo., son of Albert Wilson and Viola Arendell Moyer.

He received his education in Holcomb, Mo., and then lived in St. Louis, Mo., and Joplin, Mo., where he was a stock supervisor for American Fixtures.
On Nov. 10, 1962, in Miami, Okla., he married Lillian Leibli Barnes.

He retired in 1977, and in 1982, he and his wife moved to Eagle Rock. He enjoyed fishing and woodcarving. He attended Roaring River Baptist Church in Eagle Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Moyer; two sons, Gary Moyer of Florence, Texas, and Gene Shelton and wife Eva of Ellington, Fla.; a daughter, Twyla Allen of Paragould; a stepson, Harry Barnes and wife Mary Lou of Chesterfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; a step-grandchild; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Yewell Moyer and wife Lila of Kearney, Mo., Warden Moyer and wife Berniece of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Denzil Moyer and wife Joyce of Kansas City, Mo., and Floyd Moyer and wife Wilma of Arnold, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Rabon and husband Lyn of Aiken, S.C., and Thelma Duncan of Arnold, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Moyer; two sisters, Lois Crowe and Joyce Wilkerson; and a step-brother, Robert Owens.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 22, at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville, Mo., with the Rev. Jim Clay officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo., on Sunday, June 23.
