Obituary Online notes for “Ab” Albert Wilson MOYER
Missouri death certificate # 2131 with his oldest son Marvin Doyle Moyer of Campbell, Dunklin County, Missouri, as informant. Researchers note: Marvin lived in Holcomb but the mail route was Campbell so when you are searching for records from his early years, look to Holcomb instead of Campbell.

Albert Wilson Moyer married two times, first to Viola Belle Arendell on Dec 20, 1910 in Holcomb, Dunklin, MO. Albert and Viola had four children, Oren Moyer, Marvin Doyle Moyer, Virgil Willard Moyer, and Lois Hazel Moyer.

After Viola died, Albert married Nellie Lee Smith, widow of Columbus Johnson Owens.

Albert was son of James Albert Moyer and Adeline Ingle. He was my grandfather. As a young child of six years, he traveled from Greenup,Cumberland County, Illinois with his parents, first to Charleston, Mississippi, MO for about a year. Then after 1892, the family settled in Holcomb, Dunklin, MO.

Family researchers note that on Albert Wilson Moyer's death certificate, his mother was recorded as Adeline Ingle. On Adeline's death certificate, she was recorded as Adeline Vincent. Surname of Vincent is incorrect as her surname was Ingle. Her father and mother were Ingle first cousins.

In the top photo, Albert Wilson Moyer is standing beside the pea harvester that he owned and operated throughout Dunklin County, Missouri during the 1930s. During the years following the Great Depression, peas became a major source of food all across America. During the 1930s, a process for freezing peas became popular. Daddy said so many farmers in Dunklin County raised peas that he, Virgil, and their dad Albert could have operated the pea harvester all day and all night, seven days a week, and still wouldn't have been able to get all the fields harvested. They worked most days from sunup to sundown harvesting the peas.

I'm pretty sure the little boy standing on the pea harvester is Albert and Nellie's son Denzil Moyer.
