Tom was son of Marvin Doyle Moyer and Jewell Nadine Looney. He was an Army vet. He married first Rebecca Jane Buhrmester and they had Darren Todd Moyer and Jennifer Jewell Moyer. He married secondly Kennie Foord and she had a prior son. He married thirdly Peggy Akins.

Thomas "Tom" Owen Moyer, 62, of Hixson, died suddenly on Monday, June 22, at his home.
Born in Campbell, Mo., he attended college on a track scholarship and graduated from Arkansas State University in 1972 with a degree in Communications. Tom served as an editor of the Press Argus, the oldest weekly west of the Mississippi River in 1973. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Tom worked for Beltone Electronics in various positions and worked at the home office in Chicago, Il. He was appointed to Health Related Boards by three Governors, served as past president of the Tennessee Hearing Aid Society and retired following a long career as a hearing instrument specialist.
Tom joined the Lions Club in Jackson, Tn., in 1980 and rejoined the Hixson Lions Club in 2002. He served as secretary for the Hixson Lions Club from 2006 to 2009, was the current President, for the Hamilton County Lions Sight Service Association Inc., was editor of Club newsletter and Chairman, District 12-0 newsletter contest.
Tom and his wife owned and operated Happy's Eyeglass Center at Northgate Mall for 13 years. Tom was a wonderful man and loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Nadine Moyer; two brothers, Kenneth and Glenn Moyer.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, "Happy" Peggy Moyer; son, Darren (Elizabeth) Moyer; daughter, Jennifer Henson; special grandchildren, Caressa Moyer, Abigail Henson and Alexander Moyer; sisters, Virginia (Robert) Meier, Boonville, In.; Christine Moyer, San Francisco, Ca., and Ruth McGhee, Southaven, Ms. and many relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the North Chapel.
Funeral services for Tom will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the North Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Hixson Lions Club, P.O. Box 202, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
