She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her loving son, Franklin Lynn Matherly; sister, Luna Mae Thomas; brothers, Robert McKinney, James McKinney and Jessie McKinney.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Pruitt. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service. The entombment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. At other times the family will be at the home.

The family would like to extend a very warm thank you to the staff at Alamance Regional Medical Center and the Hospice Home staff of Alamance-Caswell for all the wonderful care and love they have shown to Jean and the family.
