BURLINGTON - Mr. Landon Franklin ""Frank"" Matherly, 73, of 3008 S. Mebane Street, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved family members who went on before him on Aug. 27, 2012 at 6:20 a.m. after years of failing health and a recent battle with cancer.
Frank retired from MAP Enterprises and was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed motorcycles, classic cars and being with his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of nearly 54 years, Jean McKinney Matherly; son, Landon Harold Matherly; daughters-in-law, Joan Matherly and Tammy Matherly; grandchildren, Landon (Jennifer), Tabitha (Ernesto), Jessi and Kody; great-grandchildren, Xander, Bentley, Destiny and Rosa; brothers, Leonard (Erma), Johnny (Brenda), H.B. (Brenda), Curtis (Joy), Robert (Lisa) and Tom, all of Burlington, Bill (Caroline) of Lynchburg, Va.; sisters, Estelle Gillispie of Eden, Betty Jean Futrell of Florida, Janet (Randy) Poole of Yanceyville, Juanita Smith, Linda Faye (Wally) Boyer and Dee Matherly, all of Burlington; numerous beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Leonard Spencer Matherly and the late Nellie Harris Matherly.; his loving son, Franklin Lynn Matherly; and sister, Delphine Simpson.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Pruitt and Pastor Don Collins. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. At other times the family will be at the home.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Kathleen Jurkowich from Piedmont Health Senior Care (P.A.C.E.) and the Hospice Home staff of Alamance-Caswell for all the wonderful care and love they have shown to Frank and the family.
