Cecil Clyde Graves
GRAHAM — Mr. Cecil Clyde Graves, 67, of 180 Clyde Graves Lane, Graham, N.C. 27253, died Monday, November 9, 2009 at his home.
A native of Alamance County, Cecil always enjoyed a good joke and will be long remembered for his sly smile, for the humor he had, and in make others laugh as well. He was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, a member of Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of the Meadow Creek Ruritan Club, and delivered Meals-On-Wheels for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Allred Graves, of the home; daughters, Carol Graves McArthur and friend Pam Paulette of Snow Camp, and Cheryl Graves Gerringer and husband Simon of Snow Camp; stepdaughter, Brooke Burton of Burlington; stepson, Kerry Burton and wife Sarah of Snow Camp; mother, Mildred Davis Graves of Snow Camp; grandchildren, Bobby Gerringer and Brandon Gerringer; stepgrandchildren, Sierra Jacobs, Dazya Cheek, Makayla Burton and Hailey Burton; mother-in-law, Betty Allred of Burlington; and sister-in-law, Beverly Allred of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Isadore Graves; and father-in-law, Earl Allred.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 at The McClure Funeral Home Chapel, 1030 South Main Street, Graham, N.C. by the Rev. John Woodard and the Rev. John Varden. Burial will be in the Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham and at other times at the residence of the family.
Memorials may be made to the Meadow Creek Ruritan Club Scholarship Fund at 1340 Payne Road, Graham, N.C. 27253.
