August 17, 1939 ~ May 13, 2024 (age 84)
Linda Marie Pentecost Angel passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Linda was born August 17, 1939 and grew up and lived in Alamance County. She was the wife of 45 years to the late Francis Neil “Frank” Angel and the daughter of Joel Ellis Pentecost and Elizabeth Dixon Pentecost, both deceased. She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.
Linda was a graduate of E. M. Holt School and Elon College. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gama Sorority since 1975. Linda taught school two years in Ruffin, NC and the remaining 34 years at E. M. Holt Elementary School in Alamance County. A year after her retirement, she taught for a year at Hillcrest Elementary School. She thought of her students as her children and kept scrap books of their accomplishments. She actually wrote a book titled, “35 Years in the Fourth Grade”. Linda thought of teaching as a very rewarding career.
Linda enjoyed her husband’s hobby of model yachting and traveling to the Regattas after she retired. From Stowe, Vermont to Disney World, Florida and many places in between, she met and enjoyed the friendships of fellow sailors and their families.
Survivors include a sister, Peggy Pentecost Dixon of Burlington; niece, Linda Dixon of Burlington; nephews, Christopher Lutz and Michael Lutz; and sister-in-law, Ruth Angel Lutz. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, William “Bill” Dixon, Jr. She was known as “Aunt Penny” to her family and will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Alamance County Meals on Wheels,
