James “Jimi” Simmons Kimbro BURLINGTON — Mr. James “Jimi” Simmons Kimbro, 62, of 395 Baynes Road, Burlington, N.C., died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at 11:51 a.m. following several years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County and raised in Caswell County, he was the son of Claude Johnson Kimbro and Lucy Simmons Kimbro, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Jimi was a former purchasing agent and salesman. He was an artist and an avid reader. He enjoyed woodworking, arts, and crafts. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Shae Kimbro, Matthew Kimbro and Trinity Kimbro; greatgrandson, Anakin Lea; sister, Sharon Vinson and husband Ronnie of Burlington; beloved niece, Evangeline Vinson; special friend and cousin, Polly Lewis; former wife, Henrietta Kimbro England and husband Pete; former daughter-in-law, Erica Kimbro Hooker; stepdaughter, Lindsay Jones; and four cats, Whiskers, Spunky, Guinevere and Cookie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cherished son, James Benjamin
Kimbro and by his dog Sassy.
The body will be taken to Bethel Christian
Church on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, to lie in state from 2 to 3 p.m. with the service being conducted at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Barry Lane. Burial will follow in Bethel Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial in the Fellowship Hall of Bethel Christian Church.
