Bernice Isley Shambley
   BURLINGTON — Bernice Isley Shambley, 85, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 8:50 p.m. at the Hospice Home and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell.

   She retired from Burlington Industries with 20 years service, was an Avon sales representative for over 28 years and attended Bethel Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved taking pictures and the art of photography. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the neighborhood birds.

   Survivors include daughters, Judy Hensley and husband Bill of Graham, Barbara Thompson and husband Ozzie of Burlington, and Carol East of Graham; sons, Kenneth Shambley and wife Erma, Bobby Shambley and wife Evelyn and Steve Shambley and wife Kathy, all of Burlington, and Mitch Shambley and wife Debbie of Haw River; sister, Alice Pickard of Florida; brother, Richard Isley of Graham; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Isley and Elsie Way Isley; husband, Walter Lee Shambley; son, Walter Lee Shambley Jr.; sister Pearl Isley; and grandson, Michael Ross.

   The family will receive friends at Mc-Clure Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23 from 6 until 8 p.m. and at other times at the residence of daughter Carol East, 816 Martin Avenue, Graham.

   The funeral will be conducted at Bethel Baptist Church on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. David Jackson. Burial will be in the Bellemont United Methodist Church cemetery.

   The family would like to express a special thank you to the Hospice Home and Palliative Care Center of Burlington, Homeplace of Burlington, and the staff of 2-C at Alamance Regional Medical Center for their love and compassion for Mrs. Shambley.
