Geneva Lowe Clapp
ELON — Geneva Lowe Clapp, age 86, went to be with her Lord, family and friends on March 7, 2011 after eight years of failing health.

She was born in Guilford County to the late Jason Roscoe and Maude Brown Lowe on June 11, 1924.

She graduated from Monticello High School and was a lifetime active member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker all her life. She loved keeping her house spotless, working in her yard, growing African violets, cooking and in particular her famous chocolate pie and being the best “Nanny” to her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

She loved her family and, up to the last months, a day didn’t go by that she didn’t call one of their names. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Geneva is survived by her husband of 65 years, Kestle Clapp, of the home; a loving and dedicated mother to her son, Gary Clapp and wife Mary of Gibsonville and daughter, Angie Walker and husband Ken of Elon. She was the best “Nanny” to her four grandchildren, Jennifer Baker, Jessica Seawell, Jordan Walker and Katie Walker; and two great-grandchildren, Haley and Shelby Baker. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Hardy, Leo Wood, Audrey Barham and Becky Barber.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorine Grogan and Jo Ann Kernodle.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. C. Allen Myers III. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Clapp will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and at the home at other times.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, 7345 North N.C. 61, Gibsonville, N.C. 27249.
