Cynthia Ketner Stokes

December 20, 1949 ~ December 2, 2024 (age 74)

Cynthia Ketner Stokes, 74, of Burlington, NC passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, December 2, 2024 following several years of declining health and two weeks of critical illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of 43 years to Keith “Sandy” Stokes, who survives and the daughter of Walter Jackson Ketner and Hilda Gray Fowler Ketner, both deceased.

She worked in textiles for many years as a seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her family and herself. Cynthia was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church on Sellars Mill Road, Burlington, NC. She was a Past Matron of the Battle of Alamance Chapter 256 of the Eastern Star. Cynthia was a wonderful wife, mother, nana, and friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Fowler Ball and wife Dina of Gibsonville; two grandchildren, Michael Ball and wife Samantha of Whitsett and their son Grayson Ball and Mattie Mae Ball of Gibsonville and her son Waylon due in January 2025; stepson, Mike Riddle of Wilmington; step-grandson, Brandon Riddle of Wilmington; and brother, Walter “Jack” Ketner of Banner Elk.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. David Braddy with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Women’s Hospital of your choice.
